DESCRIPTION:Volunteers from the Big Bear Valley Astronomical Society (BBVAS) will be setting up telescopes on the sidewalk in front of the Barrel 33 Wine Shop in the village for free telescope views of the moon and planets. \nTourist and locals alike are invited to meet with and talk astronomy with a local amateur astronomer\, view the 1st quarter moon\, the planets and whatever else might be visible on this particular evening through a telescope. \nThe public is encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and attempt taking a cell phone pic of our cratered moon through a telescopes and see where Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin (Man) first landed on another terrestrial body in the heavens\, always a fun souvenir. \nDisclaimer: All astronomy events are free\, begin at dusk and are weather permitting – Always refer to this site for event status and cancellations.

DESCRIPTION:In honor of Big Bears continuing movement to make Big Bear a Dark Sky site\, volunteers from the Big Bear Valley Astronomical Society (BBVAS) will be hosting a community star party in Erwin Lake Park at 1140 Hatchery Dr\, Erwin Lake. \nThis is an open and free event where guests will have the opportunity to view various deep sky objects including one of our favorite planet\, Saturn who will be shining high and bright on this moonless and dark night. \nGuests are encouraged to bring their own telescopes and binoculars if you have one (not necessary) and come talk astronomy with your local amateur astronomers. \nDress warmly and remember all astronomical events are held weather permitting. DESCRIPTION:Volunteers from the Big Bear Valley Astronomical Society (BBVAS) will be setting up telescopes on the sidewalk in front of the Barrel 33 Wine Shop in the village for free telescope views of the moon and planets. \nTourist and locals alike are invited to meet with and talk astronomy with a local amateur astronomer\, view the 1st quarter moon\, the planets and whatever else might be visible on this particular evening through a telescope. \nThe public is encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and attempt taking a cell phone pic of our cratered moon through a telescopes and see where Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin (Man) first landed on another terrestrial body in the heavens\, always a fun souvenir. \nDisclaimer: All astronomy events are free\, begin at dusk and are weather permitting – Always refer to this site for event status and cancellations.
